I think it is time to give Advanced Tactics Gold Enhanced a break. I propose Field of Glory: Empires for a change. Here are the reasons:
- There are lots of factions: we can be allies and have lots of things to kill!
- Turns are simultaneous: there is no turn order
- The system sends you an email when the turn rolls. From that point you have shot the food
- Turns are always quick, even with a big empire: 2 - 10 minutes
- There is lots to do - build stuff, conquer stuff, govern, diplomacy, play cards
- Victory is terms of Legacy: this is tricky but easy to learn. Hint - don't do too much conquering until you have a good culture
- We all have it in our steam accounts
We can be Rome, Carthage and Macedonia - and fight the baddies back to back
There are lots of factions. You can even play as the Irish or the Jewish state, if you are a masochist!
We all start weak and grow
The Ai has a placid mode, which would suit learning, and a tougher mode for the second game
There are Legions, Phalanxes and Elephants
John Michael Young would have approved of this game
Building game is very interesting
You build things that give you food, health, trade goods, military stuff, infrastructure, money, culture. Each time you finish one, get get a semi random choice of five more. You need a balance of everything.
You Manage Your Government
You try to get your government to improve with conquering objectives and building culture. Too much conquest or money makes you decadent! Each turn we are shown as ranked against each other for Legacy and Decandence = bragging rights.
There are Cards you can Play
You get a decision card a turn (usually) and they can give you opportunities or distractions
There are also government decisions to help you set your future agendas
Diplomacy With AI Works Quite Well
AI is happy to go to peace after a short war, and even become your clients if you bash them hard enough. They will also trade money, metal and mercenaries with you.
Let's give this a Go
It will only take about 6 turns to get into it. I think you will all like it.
What a great idea, Python. You totally rock!
