more accidental macro while preparing dinner

I was getting my dinner ready when I noticed a rather large moth on the cupboard above the stove ...

Beautiful red colour and so fluffly looking up close. Here are a few shots. A few contortions undertaken on a little 2 step ladder and against cupboard doors etc.

Would have been nice to be able to get a front on shot but it was facing upwards and was a long way up and I didn't want to move it and risk injuring it. I got it in a glass and released it in the bush outside. It also reminded me of a character from Monsters vs Aliens (see at the end).

Yes, mostly it was in the microwave. I just needed to reheat the pan to fry my egg when I finished photographing :-)

That set of cupboards is the most illuminated part of the house as it is opposite the 2 big fluoros in the kitchen, hence I suppose the range of insects that end up settling on it.
