There are parrots on the bottlebrush this morning. If I were not so dignified, I'd be trying to catch them.

once on a flower, flies and hoverflies seem to stay pretty still. Bees seem to keep moving the whole time.

Bees are hard to get in flight. Good try imho.

I haven't tried for ages. They don't hover so you have this challenge of a small moving target lost in the background - challenges for focus acquisition (not acquired = out of focus), shutter speed (not fast enough on moving target and out of focus). Hoverflies hovering above flowers (sort of staticly in the air) allows a camera angle where it is the fly and the sky, so the camera is less likely to get fooled into focusing on the background.
