This is a photo of the sunset from my back verandah. This picture also captures some of my darker thoughts. Is this also the sunset of the Church, under the worst Pope in centuries.
Distressingly, this Pope seems determined to court the adoration of the world, and to speak and act in the nasty way of the world. For example, some of the comments made by the Holy Father at the annual meeting with the clergy of Rome held on February 19.
Our Lord taught us: "If the world hate you, know ye, that it hath hated me before you. If you had been of the world, the world would love its own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you" (John 15.18-19) and "The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth: because I give testimony of it, that the works thereof are evil" (John 7.7).
Psalm 119:147
I rise before dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in your word.
