This weekend is gardening weekend. It has seen the end of the dead tree, it will soon see the end of the rebel alliance weed beds.
This tree was one of our pride a joys with bright sprays of red flowers each summer. It was planted as one of three, and although the other two are doing grand, this one died in the winter. The Arborist gave no reason but said that a root fungus could of contributed. Pip checked the tree too, burt could find nothing wrong with it.
So after q ick check of the council web site which said we could cut down any tree under 4 metres and cut off any dead branches, I proceeded to cut off two dead branches and then measured it. Whew: 3.5 metres, so out she came.
The key to a good cutting job is a good "getting things done shirt", "badge of the weekend handyman", BS, BS, BS... But to be fair, the tee shirt represents a commitment to reading the instructions (down to 26.7.2), long ours of study and experimentation (what if I launch the cavalry against the other flank) and supreme organisation inthe form of boys weekends (plural), I knew that a tree would be no match for me, particularly if it was only 3.5 metres tall!
To get the stump out, I had to dig around and chop the roots. Fortunately, the tap root had never gone down, so this did not take too long, although I was still panting like a Year 7 Dara boy after his first PE lesson!
Best of all, when I finished, I found Paul had sent me an EDEE turn, so I'm keen to get stuck into that! I have been imagining a flood of telegrams from the Kaiser to the Porte beginning him not to surrender!
At least the dog is impressed
A toy dog; Useless in every way except as a personal trainer (who ensures I always do a nightly walk.)

A lady's dog as well?

It is a lady's axe, if you were to ask your Viking friends. However, I find it quite sufficient.
