I used to day dream about this issue as a teenager in Sydney! I found the history of this period compelling as so many things were new for the time: states run by varying levels of democracy, freedom vs alliance vs slavery, naval dominance vs unbeatable Spartans, and long term warfare. Mistakes and brilliance were original and have so much to teach the student of history.
I'll have to punch out the counters, set them up and post a review. This is too awesome!
I've been thinking long and hard over whether my sympathies lie with Athens or Sparta. If push comes to shove, I think I'd choose Athens.

A very evocative cover.
I think you would be an Athenian in the final analysis.

There is much to admire in both and much to hate. I am a progressive by nature, so instinctively tend towards Athens. However, given the oppressive form of Athens' unbridled democracy, I imagine I would have preferred to be a Spartiate than an Athenian. Given Murphy's law, I probably would have ended up a Platean hoplite or a Samnian and would have hated both of them.

This does indeed look like the ultimate issue for you! So, the big question. Do your sympathies lie with Sparta or Athens?
