Matrix Games have just announced the release of a new science fiction computer wargame: Pandora. I am extremely impressed that a Linux version has been released at the same time as a PC and a Mac version. The website is here.
This game is described as "a spiritual successor to Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri". The Python will know Sid Meier as one of the programmers behind the Civilisation series of computer wargames. Alpha Centauri was basically Civilisation set on an alien planet.
I will download this game on to my Ubuntu zenbook, if only to support game designers who back linux from the ground up. Unfortunately this game does not appear to have a PBEM option. As the name of the game suggests, the planet appears to have more than a passing resemblance to the planet in the Avatar movie.
Surely it is heresy to purchase a PC version of a game in preference to the Linux version!

Looks like a bit of fun. I played Alpha Centauri a lot when it came out - I liked all the humour in the game too. I'll be giving it a go too. (Maybe the Windows version as I get more done when I don't have games on my Linux machines!)
